Warwick Cemetery Policy on Cremated Remains

January 2023

The Warwick Cemetery is a community cemetery and a not-for-profit entity which seeks to accommodate those that use its beautiful grounds for the memorialization of their loved ones who have passed away. To that effort, the Cemetery Board seeks to put new rules and policies in place to allow for an orderly and mutually beneficial access of these grounds and facilities for all those who would choose to use it. Over time, the cemetery has needed to change its policies to adjust to the current needs of the cemetery, community and those who are memorialized in it.

As we seek to continue to meet the current needs of the Warwick community and the Warwick Cemetery, being that during this time in history, many have chosen cremation as final disposition, we find it timely to add the following policy and rules to meet the current need;

  • Cremated remains may be buried in the ground in any existing plot or newly purchased full sized grave to a maximum of four remains, with payment of current opening fee for each interment (except) from December through April due to frost, at the Superintendent’s discretion.
  • The cremation section provides room for cremains with restrictions of a 1×2 flat marker only. Opening must be arranged through the cemetery and current opening fee paid.
  • Above-ground columbarium space is allowed only in the cremation garden areas
  • All openings of graves or columbarium spaces in the cemetery must be arranged through and opening provided by the Warwick Cemetery Superintendent and appropriate fees paid.
